The Event In its forth proven year of success the Cronulla 2011 Rip'N Ride will be held at the prime location of Wanda Beach Cronulla. A huge stage for both riders and spectators has expectations for the latest, greatest and never before attempted aerial tricks at its peak. With the who’s who of local and international riders combined with the newest faces to the sport the Rip N Ride format is in a class of its own.
Format The riders will take part in scheduled events throughout the day such as:- 1. Clinic- Professional riders teaching the skills to perform new maneuvers. 2. Open freeride- sessions for people who want to try the skills they have been taught without entering a competition format. 3. Cherry popper- for riders to attempt their first Arial backflip. 4. Biggest air:- the highest jump from a wave 5. Best trick 6. Set A New World– TBA 7. Backflip champion of champions And many more…….
Event History The “Rip and Ride” was brought to life by OZFREERIDE.COM and the Cronulla Freeride Crew in 2008, with the idea of promoting our sport to Rookies entailing a fun filled day with prizes, without the added pressure of a freeride competition. This was proven last year for the inaugural Rip and Ride when, from an expected 25 entrants, we signed up 42, majority being males aged between 18 and 35. In, 2009 it had attracted over 60 international and local riders . 2010 we had 67 riders and now 2011 we reached a capacity of 73 within three days of the entries being released.
